The Interdisciplinary Research Center in Economic Development and Institutions (CRISEI) of the University of Naples “Parthenope” was founded in June 2009 (DR n. 450 of 18 June 2009) with administrative headquarter at the Department of Business and Economics (DISAE).
Main aims and activities are:
- Promoting the development of empirical and theoretical research on: economic development and growth; the role of institutions, culture and geography; historical economics; the analysis of functioning and organization of labour; financial and energy markets; migration and social identity; behavioural economics; international trade; sustainability; environmental economics and policy; entrepreneurship and management economics; local development and tourism;
- Stimulating interdisciplinary initiatives joint with public and private institutions to promote policies for the development of the South of Italy and the reduction of the North-South divide;
- Fostering the dissemination of the research results through the publication of working papers, books, and articles in scientific journals, and the organization of seminars, conferences, workshops, summer, and winter schools;
- Contributing and stimulating the public debate on relevant issues for the society, and the collaboration with other universities, research and public institutions, and the business environment;
- Providing specific skills and knowledge to public and private bodies through specialised training on policies for local economic development;
- Promoting fund-raising activities for applied and theoretical research.
